Might just Pick one up for Brain Age!

“For those who watch every move in the saga of the Nintendo DS Lite, now the company has officially announced pricing for the black version of the much-sought-after portable gaming machine. Despite rumor and speculation indicating otherwise, the Black DS Lite will cost 16,800 Yen ($145) in Japan, the same price as the white, light blue, enamel blue and pink ones. It will go on sale September 2. No word yet about whether we’ll see this shiny and ominous version of the DS Lite in North America or Europe. No matter what, I refuse to use the word “sleek” when referring to anything that’s shiny and black”

Boom Bag Rock your Bag!

The Boom Bag is a nifty pre-production unit that combines all the fun of bags and bag carrying with iPods and iPod listening. A “full range” speaker is located on the inside of the bag, as is a rechargeable battery. An iPod is then hooked up to the speaker; music then plays from said speaker. The bag is made out of weatherproof fabric, so there’s no need to worry about Old Man Winter ruining it.

The Boom Bag was borne out of a study looking into loud speakers, much like how microwaves were borne out of experimenting with radar waves.

The design firm, Gro, is currently looking for someone to help pay the bills so it can actually mass produce the Boom Bag. So if you’re feeling generous, give ‘em a call. Just be mindful of their flash-heavy Web site.”

Quechua’s tent comes folded up, but when you toss it into the air—preferably not straight up—it deploys into full tent form before it hits the ground. All you need to do is stake the corners. Nifty.

Cleanup is also easy, but takes a bit longer than two seconds. If it weren’t for the mosquitos, ants, bears, and our hatred for the outdoors, this might make us go camping.

U.S. and Canadian Skype Users Can Make Free International SkypeOut Calls to the United Kingdom, Mexico and Japan for Three July Weekends

SAN JOSE, Calif.—July 10, 2006—Skype®, the global Internet communications company, today announced that U.S. and Canadian-based Skype users can make free calls to traditional landlines and mobile phones in the United Kingdom, Mexico and Japan during three ‘Skype Days of Summer’ weekends, starting Saturday, July 15th. The three countries represent some of the most frequently called countries by Skype users and are among the leading destinations for all international calling originating from the United States and Canada.

Free SkypeOut(TM) calling to the United Kingdom, Mexico and Japan is available weekends July 15-16, July 22-23 and July 29-30, respectively. The free international SkypeOut calling offer to each country runs 48 hours from 12:01 a.m. EDT Saturdays through Sundays at midnight EDT, when international calling is at a peak.

According to a recent company-issued survey of its users, 70% of Skype users say the most important reasons they use Skype is to stay in touch with family and friends abroad, to make inexpensive calls to landlines and mobile phones, and for free calling to other Skype users anywhere in the world. In addition, of Skype users surveyed, nearly 25% use Skype to make 100% of their international calls. 30% of users state their friends are “spread around the globe.”
